Adult Lessons
We offer 2 levels of instruction, Learn to Sail and Adult Refresher. Both are available to town residents who are 18 years or older.
Learn to Sail
The Cohasset Sailing Club’s beginner-friendly Learn to Sail program is for those who are new to the sport or returning after a break. Our experienced instructors will teach you the basics of sailing, and provide hands on sailing experience as you learn in a group.
The program consists of eight sessions, conveniently scheduled on Saturdays to accommodate your availability. The first four lessons, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, are designed to take advantage of calmer morning winds, making it easier for beginners to learn. The following four sessions, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, will expose you to moderately stronger winds, preparing you for a variety of sailing conditions.
By the end of these sessions, you’ll be equipped to confidently navigate Cohasset’s inner and outer harbors, either solo or with friends and family, enjoying the scenic beauty from the water.
Adult Refresher
This option is for those who have completed Learn to Sail or who want to brush up on prior sailing experience. The course will reacquaint you with the fundamentals of sailing and update your skills in a supportive and practical environment.
Experienced instructors are on hand to assist you or your group of friends on how to rig and sail one of our boats and safely navigate your way back to the dock. Instructors provide support on the boat, trailing behind in a whaler or keeping an eye on you from land.
You may register for only the class dates you wish to attend. Instructors tailor courses to the abilities of the students present on that day providing near-private lessons. Sessions begin in July and are held Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00 pm and Sundays from 1:30 to 3:00 pm.
Note registration closes one week before class to ensure staffing.
